In March 2025, the Embassy participated in an important event hosted by the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), welcoming the newly elected Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Mahamoud Ali Youssouf. The meeting, chaired by Acting SRCC Mr. Sivuyile Thandikhaya, was a gesture of continuity and renewal of AU commitment to Somalia’s stability.
Kenya’s participation was both symbolic and strategic — reinforcing its Pan-African ethos and underscoring its partnership with AU institutions. As one of the leading contributors to African peace missions and a founding member of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Kenya’s voice in Somalia is aligned with broader regional and continental priorities.
